The Rise of the Expert Influencer
The rise of the expert influencer on TikTok and Instagram is reshaping social media trends as users seek more transparency and trust. Millennials and Gen Z are gravitating toward creators who offer professional acumen and meaningful content over traditional aspirational influencers.
The de-influencing trend, where creators advise against certain products, reflects the growing scepticism around influencer credibility. Expert influencers across various industries provide specialist knowledge and practical advice, aligning with young consumers' desire to improve themselves and the world. [Read More]

Example in the news: Example promotes Daniel Goldstein to Head of PR | Culture agency Example signs InterContinental Sydney as client | Chris Loukakis, Example Head of Strategy speaks to Australian Hotelier on what retro renaissance means for the hospitality industry.
Hi, I'm Rebecca Jarvie-Gibbs, co-founder and Managing Director of Example I've devoted 18 years to the world of earned media and am a fierce advocate for the role that PR plays in creating legendary cultural brands. Off-duty, I love a long lunch with friends (pass me the Chablis!), relish quality time with my baby boy Otis, and am a reformer pilates evangelist. |
A Ritual That Resonates: I am obsessed with celebrity pop culture analysis, so I start my day with a quick dive into Lainey Gossip. Reporter come anthropologist Elaine Lui skillfully dissects celebrity news to unveil profound insights about society and our belief systems. I also feed my curiosity daily with podcasts like High Performance, You're Wrong About and How To Fail, which continually challenge my perspectives on self, leadership, culture and the world. Undiscovered Gems: This has to be a shout out for my good friend Nick van Tiel who just released 'Hey Scottie', a banging little dancefloor filler through Lou Lou Records. | Culture that moves you: I adore Soul Music, a BBC Podcast that explores pieces of music with a powerful emotional impact. 'Young Hearts Run Free' reveals the raw backstory of Candi Staton's seemingly carefree disco classic. The song was influenced by her own troubled and abusive relationship which she struggled to leave and its creation helped her gain the confidence to finally walk away. This is such a powerful episode in a moving series that celebrates music's deep and transformative influence on our lives. A Cultural Experience: I recently enjoyed one of those perfect Friday evenings sitting outside at Bar Copains in Surry Hills. Tasty snacks, great wine, perfect service. Wonderfully unpretentious. |
