Welcome back to our fortnightly newsletter. An exploration of our inspirations, strategic directions and the initiatives we are championing in culture.
Gen Z Are Embracing Radical Newness
Shrek raves and medieval festivals? Welcome to radical newness - Gen Z’s obsession with experiencing novel and divergent experiences. An opportunity to let their hair down, express their true selves and partake in a little fantasy, young people are deliberately seeking out clashes of culture that would perturb older generations. Stemming from a desire to venture into new cultural territory, brands can authentically appeal to Gen Z by throwing out the tastes of old and embracing the unexpected.
POLL: Do you feel like you understand Gen Z’s wants and needs? |

From Broadsheet, ABC Breakfast Sydney and Time Out to Daily Telegraph and Concrete Playground, we made sure that it was the news to read about this week.
Chris Lee, Brand Manager at QT Hotels & Resorts I’m lucky enough to wake up as Brand Manager of QT Hotels & Resorts. A Kiwi gal who has called Sydney home for the past five years (DNSW, your biggest ambassador right here) in order to pursue my career in the wonderful and wild world of hotels and hospitality. From PR to partnerships, copy to creative, it all comes together to curate culture. |
When the OOO is on, I’m off… plugged into a podcast, sipping on my signature soy capp with cinnamon, or wet martini with a lemon twist with my pals (often all three on the weekend). A Ritual That Resonates: On my way to have my ass kicked at Hustle Boxing, I listen to The Morning Shift. I’m in stitches on the daily as three hilarious dudes yarn about their lives, news, culture with a vulnerability which is to be admired. It’s real talk (and real funny). Culture that moves you: My Spotify daylist. Nothing quite takes you back to a memory like music. Today, my daylist took me back to rowdy Friday night as my housemates and I pilfered the wine rack and sang karaoke on YouTube. | Undiscovered Gems: Meeting my new mate, Mikey Freedom. I caught up with him for an upcoming collaboration between QT and Campari, as we’re working together on creative for our Good Food Event: 1800 Lasagne x Gowings. It was pure joy hearing his story, process and how it’s going to translate to magic between three brands who put art, music and pasta on the pedestal it deserves. A Cultural Experience: Hubert’s, every single time. The service, the music, the duck parfait. It’s becoming quite the birthday ritual for me, and I couldn’t be happier. |
